My inspiration came from many places, but, most of all from the book “The Alchemist” (If you have never read it, stop reading this and go get it), which was given to me while recently visiting New York. In the book, the protagonist is in search of a great treasure and, through seemingly impossibly circumstances, he marches towards his goal and creates his own personal legend.
After I read the book, I took a walk down Delancey, looking at all the people. They were, all of them, unique, all of them (aware of it or not), creating their own legend as they moved about their lives. It amazed me. Each of them, had a story. Each one floating in their struggles and triumphs; their past a brilliant trail behind them, their grand ideas floating eagerly above their heads.
I was inspired by it all; suddenly and maddeningly, inspired to create something. And, while staying at the Misfit Headquarters in the Lower East Side, I started sketching crazy ideas on paper.
I wanted to create something that could be stunning and unique, but intuitive and felt natural as people used and viewed it. I wanted to create a Theme for Writers, Creators, Thinkers–For those who aim to contribute their verse.My pursuit in creating Legend was not to make another theme, as themes go, but to try and author a canvas for real expression, both individual and artistic.
Inevitably, this endeavor lead me to about sites on the web in a more fundamental way; questioning how users evolved and whether websites had evolved with them. I wanted to challenge the known, subvert the dominant paradigms and strip away all the the unnecessary fluff and the gimmicky add-ons. Legend is my attempt to a real platform for storytelling, made for those brave enough to tell it.
